6 Tips to A Successful Transition

Photo by Peter Conlan on Unsplash

First I want to start with a caveat. I am not going to tell you how much money you should have saved nor will I suggest you move back in with your parents. That’s just too easy. What I will present here is a way to get aligned energetically, bulldoze beliefs, which say, you can’t do this and will relate my personal experience. Meaning, things I didn’t do but wished I had…

Lockdown or Freed Up?

The power of words in defining our reality.

Words have energy. Some evoke a reaction in the body like a punch to the gut or a harness around your chest constricting you. Others wash over you like a gentle spring breeze and calm every cell in your body.

Lockdown. Say it. Lockdown. What does that feel like in your body? Light and airy or tight and confining? For me, the word feels like there are bars over my windows and a deadbolt on my door. Yes, scary indeed. Now take a word like Freed (Up). How…

Let’s face it, leaving a 9–5 to pursue your dream of working for yourself and becoming an entrepreneur can be an interesting cocktail of excitement at taking the plunge mixed with just the right amount of terror. As someone who made the decision to do just that after being an employee my whole life, I can relate. You can read more about it here. I also work with clients who are either making the transition to becoming self-employed or are small business owners facing some challenges. I have often heard the following expressed as concerns, issues and fears but further…

There Is Nothing Wrong With You…You Are Just Introverted.

How my life changed when I embraced this fact.

Photo by Jasper Graetsch on Unsplash

Lately it seems like all of the sudden, it’s become cool admit you are an introvert. But, it wasn’t always that way. Introverts have been misunderstood and at times have gotten a bad rap. The stigma is they are shy, disinterested, boring, a hermit or worse yet, socially awkward. Seriously, who wants that association? And I say they loosely…as I am one of them.

As an introvert, who until recently never really understood what that meant, and honorably labeled myself as an extrovert, I can tell you, we are anything but…

If you were asked to be present, would you know what that meant? We hear it all the time. Be in the present moment. And yet, do we really know what that means? The simple answer is that being present means paying attention. In the world we live in, giving our undivided attention to anything is a challenge because we are so bombarded with things vying for our attention. Being present takes practice to notice where we are and what is going on around us. You will find that life becomes richer, experiences have more meaning and your life becomes…

Placebos: It’s All in Your Head

Placebos have been around since the 18th century and most people have heard of the placebo effect, but have you ever really thought about how it works? Of course we know that the placebo works because we have a belief that a certain action we are taking produces certain results and yet, it’s funny how many people will question the validity that you have to believe something to in order to get a desired outcome. The word placebo literally means, “I shall please”, which is in line with how the Law of Attraction works…

We all have stories. Sometimes we like the stories we tell and sometimes we don’t. We have stories about who we are, what we do and what our childhood was like, but did you ever stop and consider what your what money story was? I’ll bet you never even thought you had one.

My money story? I either had it or I didn’t. I saved it or I spent it. If I work hard, I’ll have money. Well, it’s not that simple. We reinforce our own version of our money story and affirm it every time we spend money, look…

Letting go of life’s handrail

A 9–5 job is like a handrail. It can provide security, stability and hold you up, or rather, keep you from falling. It also can keep you tethered to the safe and familiar and not allow you to soar.

I let go of the handrail about a year and a half ago and wanted to share some things I learned along the way. But first, let me give you a little bit of history so you understand why I kept my grip so tight for most of my adult life.

I’ve been an employee since…

Times have changed since you got married just because you were supposed to. That it was the “thing” to do. Yeah, you wanted kids and loved the idea of “till death do us part” but in reality, many times death of the marriage came too soon. We entered into it somewhat blind to what lie lurking beneath the surface. The unconscious motivations we had for selecting a certain partner. The old patterns which keep playing out in our relationships that we just chalked up to “that’s the way I am”.

Not to mention the clichés and societal norms we’ve accepted…

Why Ignorance Can Be Bliss AND Keep You Spiritually Aligned…

My college friend Ron and I used to say, “It’s not easy being us”. We were cerebral, analytical and very self-aware. We would spend way too much time going over “why” this happened and what it all meant. We were exhausted. We used to joke how much easier life was for people who were “simple”. They didn’t know what they were missing, after all. How easy it would be to go through life not second-guessing or allowing the committee in our heads to consume hours at a time trying to…
